The Bryce Canyon Lodge opens its doors from April 1st to October 31st. Dinner reservations are required if you plan to eat at the lodge. The rustic Bryce Canyon Lodge, was built in 1925, with additions finished in 1929.

Bryce Canyon has two campgrounds, the North campground and the Sunset campground. Both are open from late spring until late in the fall. The North Campground takes reservations. The Sunset Campground is on a first-use basis. There are 208 total campsites and group sites available. There are no hookups, but shower and laundry facilities are available at the general store, for a fee.

Bryce Canyon Location
From Mount Carmel Junction, on the east side of Zion National Park, take US-89 (Scenic Byway 89) north to Scenic Byway 12 (41 miles). Turn east onto Scenic Byway 12 headed to Red Canyon. Continue past Red Canyon for another 9 miles to Highway 63. Turn south on Highway 63 to the entrance to Bryce Canyon.

 

Directions to Bryce Canyon

From Salt Lake City: Travel south on Interstate 15 past Beaver to UT 20. Exit on UT 20. Turn south on UT 89 and travel past Panguitch. Follow UT 89 to UT 12. Travel along UT 12 through Red Canyon to Bryce Canyon. Turn south on UT 63 to enter the park.
From Las Vegas: Travel Interstate 15 past St. George to Exit 16. Drive through Hurricane, Utah. Follow Utah Highway 9 through Hurricane and to the only stop light in LaVerkin. Turn right at the stop light. Continue on Highway 9 to the south entrance of Zion National Park. Drive through Zion to the junction of UT 9 and US 89 at Mt. Carmel Jct. Turn north on UT 89, then exit on UT 12. Follow UT 12 through Red Canyon, turning south on UT 63 to enter Bryce Canyon.

Bryce Canyon National Park

The Mossy Cave hike takes hikers to a nice little waterfall and stream, and the hoodoos are high up on mountain tops and isolated into small pockets of distinct design, with windows, fins and other grand design forged through the force of erosion.

 

Lodging Zion National Park
Lodging Zion National ParkLodging and services are available on the gorgeous east side of Zion National Park, where guests are close to Zion National Park (12 miles), Bryce Canyon National Park (60 miles), Cedar Breaks National Monument (45 miles), Coral Pink Sand Dunes (12 miles), and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (85 miles). It's where city traffic is absent and the skies are bright and clean.

 

Bryce Canyon Visitors Center - The Bryce Canyon Visitors Center is open year-round except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. The summer hours (May - September) are 8 am to 8 pm, with shorter hours the rest of the year. The National Park Service (NPS) offers an award winning twenty-two minute film about Bryce Canyon that is shown in the Visitor Center daily. The center offers a museum and is the office that issues backcountry permits. The Bryce Visitors Center is located one mile inside the park.

The shuttle system in Bryce is voluntary and only runs during the more active summer months. The Shuttle runs from May 15 - September 30, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.

Bryce Canyon Elevation
The lowest elevation in Bryce Canyon is 6620', at Yellow Creek and the highest is 9115' at Rainbow Point. Rainbow Point is located at the far south end of the park. Yellow Creek is a small stream of water found along the Under the Rim Trail.

Biking in Bryce Canyon
Bikes are not allowed on the Bryce Canyon trails and there are no bike paths in the park. However in Red Canyon, located 9 miles away, there is a beautiful bike path that runs along Scenic Byway 12, even taking a few detours into the forest.
